Rugby, cricket & Gaelic

Many sports of the British Isles are tied to a region, and a reader who follows grands prix across continents still has to mind the borders here. This section marks where the law changes.

Both codes of rugby sit here with cricket, netball and the Gaelic pair of football and hurling. Handicaps and winning margins belong to rugby, while cricket offers match and innings markets.

The Gambling Act 2005 and a Gambling Commission licence reach England, Scotland and Wales alone. Northern Ireland lies outside the Act, so a Great Britain licence is silent on betting there, a point weighing most on Gaelic games.
