Horse racing & greyhounds
Racing of the four-legged kind keeps its own rulebook, quite apart from the engines of Formula 1, and the terms below decide what a racing bet pays. Money rules are treated here as part of the sport.
An each-way bet means two bets at equal stakes, win and place, which doubles the outlay. The Rule 4 deduction, non-runners, ante-post and starting price complete the language, beside horse and greyhound tips and predictions.
Tax treats racing apart. A 25% remote betting rate of General Betting Duty is set for 1 April 2027, yet remote bets on UK horse racing keep the 15% rate, and pool betting has its own duty.
