Privacy policy – Motorracingtips.com

Running an information site about Formula 1 and other betting calls for little personal data, and Motorracingtips.com handles no more than that. The UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply, and this text meets the duty to inform in Article 13 of the UK GDPR.

Who is responsible

The controller under Article 4(7) UK GDPR is the body running Motorracingtips.com. Name, address and e-mail address are available at motorracingtips.com, which is also the route for any question about personal data.

Data handled and its keeping

Every page opened leaves a log line on the server holding the IP address, the moment of access, the address requested, the volume of data sent, the referring page and the browser type. Logs exist for security and for spotting abuse; once 90 days have passed they are erased or cut down until no person can be traced. Writing to the editors adds a name, an e-mail address and the message, used solely for the reply and kept until the matter closes, plus the time needed to defend against any claim. Supplying data is voluntary, though without it no reply can be sent. Readers have no accounts, deposits or bets here, so payment details and identity documents are never collected.

Grounds for processing

Keeping logs, guarding against abuse and replying to a message all rest on the controller’s legitimate interests in a working, secure site (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). Audience measurement and any cookie beyond the strictly necessary depend on consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR together with regulation 6 of PECR) and begin only after it is given. Withdrawal is possible at any time and leaves earlier processing untouched (Article 7(3)). Neither automated decision-making nor profiling occurs.

Who receives data, and transfers abroad

Nothing is sold on. Hosting, content delivery and e-mail come from processors that act on the controller’s instructions (Article 28 UK GDPR), and public authorities receive data where the law requires. A transfer outside the United Kingdom happens only to a country covered by adequacy regulations or with appropriate safeguards, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum (Article 44 onwards).

Individual rights

A person may ask for access (Article 15), correction (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18) or portability (Article 20), and may object to processing founded on legitimate interests (Article 21). A request is answered without undue delay and within one month of receipt; where needed that period can be extended by a further two months under Article 12(3).

Supervisory authority

Data protection is supervised by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Anyone who thinks their data is processed unlawfully may lodge a complaint with it (Article 77 UK GDPR).
